Primrose Park was envisioned as a new recreational community park serving the central area of the city. As the first park developed in over 50 years, the project was funded through Proposition 68 and represented a major investment in community health and open space.
The park included a playground, flexible community space for fitness and wellness activities, a walking exercise loop, and a new parking lot. A decorative metal fence enclosed the site, with screening along Primrose Avenue and landscaped buffers throughout. A focal art piece with lighting at the corner of the park and parking lot created a welcoming visual entry.
A rubberized walking loop with wayfinding lighting encircled the park, connecting two gated entrances that were secured at dusk. The playground featured separate areas for ages 2–5 and 5–12, including a custom flower-shaped shade structure. The design theme drew inspiration from primroses and camellias, reflecting the city’s identity through form and color. Primrose Park provides a vibrant, accessible space for recreation, wellness, and community gathering.

Primrose Park was envisioned as a welcoming and vibrant community space that fosters recreation, wellness, and connection for residents of all ages. Inspired by the city’s identity and natural beauty, the park was designed to provide safe, accessible, and engaging environments that encourage active lifestyles, social interaction, and a strong sense of place.
